The Youth Conference "Society for a Better Future" was held on  January 31, 2018. It was a closing ceremony for the project “School Youth Networks of Collaboration for Sustainable and Effective Solutions” (SYNCS). The project started in 2016, was funded by the European Union and implemented by the World Vision Georgia with partner organizations, among them the Civic Development Institute (CDI).

Participating in the training, I started to feel that I was developing new positive qualities within me and attaining a new worldview, new skills, as well as a new way of thinking.

Now I speak confidently about human rights.

I didn't know. I couldn’t quite decide what direction to head with respect to my future career until I took part in "Speaking of Myself". I applied for the competition, driven by my interest in expanding my knowledge, and in working with the caring and beloved staff of the program.  

This was a life-changing experience for me.

My name is Tatul Jilavyan, I am 16 years old. I live in the village of Koghb, in a traditional family of 6. I have a 22-year-old brother, Garik, and we both use wheelchairs. We are both infinitely grateful to our parents and grandmother who have always done their best to ensure a good education for us and to make sure that we are fully integrated into society by being involved in organizations that defend our rights.

“Study of Educational Needs of Student Representatives Of Ethnic Minorities”

A study  entitled  Study of Educational Needs of Student Representatives of Ethnic Minorities living in Georgia was conducted in 2016. The main objective of the study was to identify school dropouts and its causes among ethnic minorities. According to literature, dropping out of school  results primarily  from child labour practices and early marriages, specifically in the case of  girls. The research shows the negative impact of the process on individuals as well as on the State and  society at large.

There are children aged 5-18 years who are provided with food, clothes, necessary medical and rehabilitation services that live in social service institution for children with disabilities number 1 of the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Conference - “Democratic School and Critical Media Literacy”, 2017

On February 11th 2017, in the “Courtyard Marriott” conference, organized by Civic Development Institute “Democratic School and Critical Media Literacy” took place. Teachers, pupils, education experts and NGO representatives from Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia attended the conference. The conference was the part of CNC advocacy action in Georgia. In the frame of advocacy actions Georgian teachers presented methodological materials on media literacy. Materials cover the following topics: gender issue, human rights, democracy, ecology etc.

Although there are many autistic people in Azerbaijan, the number of institutions carrying out complex activities for them is quite limited. One of the organization working with autistic people in our country is “Assistance to Rehabilitation of Autistic Children” Public Union,” which drew our attention.

Kaspi school hosts guests to visit museum of repression

In 2016, with the financial support of the Presidential Reserve Fund of Georgia and with the help of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,  the museum of repression called “The Footsteps of the Past” was established in the Gymnasium of Kaspi - a little town in Shida Kartli (region of Georgia). Universal Rights Award ceremony 2016

Every year, the EU Delegation to Armenia, the US embassy, the OSCE, Council of Europe and the UN Armenia offices in Yerevan, honor individuals working to promote human rights, accountable governance, the rule of law, local government reform, women’s rights, inclusion and free speech in Armenia at the Universal Rights Awards ceremony. The ceremony has taken place annually since 2012, and is the first initiative of the international community to highlight the contributions of Armenia’s civil and political rights activists, government officials, media and civil society representatives to the promotion of human rights.

The coverage of disability issues in media

From June 25 to 26 in Dilijan, Armenia “Bridge of Hope” NGO (the member of the Caucasus Network for Children (CNC)) in the framework of the project "Speaking about myself", held a seminar for journalists “The coverage of disability issues in media”.  More than sixty applications for participation were received of which only 20 were selected.

Welcome to the
Caucasus Network for Children

"All children in the Caucasus region have equal access to inclusive education" – This is the vision of the Caucasus Network for Children (CNC). The Network was launched in January 2013 and consists of 15 partner organizations at the moment.

The Caucasus Network for Children brings together civil society organizations working with vulnerable children in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation (Republic of Ingushetia, Republic of North-Ossetia, Republic of Chechnya).

 

Together for the Rights of Children

The aim of the Network is to advance and safeguard the rights of children from vulnerable groups and their inclusion into education and the life of the community. The CNC member organizations support vulnerable children in a variety of ways from supporting access to education, to providing extracurricular activities, to trainings for income-generation skills. They are open to cooperation with different local and international partners such as local governments, international donors and local businesses.
