On November 13, 2017 a film screening took place at the Cinema House, Tbilisi. These films were created within the frame of the project “Strengthening Local Capacities for Children’s Rights Protection in Georgia” financed by the European Union.
The following documentary and semi-documentary films were presented:
- Bakar Cherkezishvili – “Apolo Javakheti”
- Tako Svanidze – “Khviti”, “Tsotskhnara”
- Mery Shikhashvili - “Kisses Only Happen in Movie”
- Salome Jashi – “Half Eaten Cow”
- Shorena Tkeshelashvili – “Arzu”
The films recount the difficulties that children face in attaining education. In Georgia, not every child is able to get a high quality education. These movies, filmed by Georgian directors, tell us stories of children’s achievements and challenges, their willingness to be educated and their dreams. They also depict how early marriage, child labor and poverty hinder children’s opportunities to be educated.
The films with English, Armenian and Azerbaijanian subtitles are available on the Civic Development Institute official Youtube account.
Among the attendees to the screening were the filmmakers and the movie heroes from different regions of Georgia..
